A Three - Day Organizational Development Workshop for KNU’s Department Heads Concluded

As part of the Karen National Union’s governance strengthening program, a three-day workshop on organizational development was held in Klo Yaw Lay, Hpa-an District, Kawthoolei from August 18 to 20. Attended by the heads and senior staff from KNU’s administrative and public service departments, the workshop focused not only on developing and restructuring the departments but reviewing and reaffirming their long-term vision and mission as well.

Participants discussed both challenges and opportunities presented by the new political realities in the country as some of the changes in political landscape of the past two years have triggered huge impacts on the KNU and its governance functions.

“Strategic adaptation and strengthening of our departments are key to overcoming challenges we encounter,” said P’doh Hser Bwe, Joint General Secretary 1 of KNU. The KNU is committed to strengthening its governance capacity and improving the quality of its administrative functions in order to better serve the people of Kawthoolei. “We plan to continue doing this kind of workshop regularly as part of our overall strategy for strengthening our governance and administration,” reiterated P’doh Saw Her Bwe at the conclusion of the workshop.
